Her i weekenden var Ulrik i Danmark for at fejre at Michael nu er Dr. Ryan Hansen (tillykke Michael). Det passede også med at Ulriks mor havde fødselsdag (tillykke Lise)…og når jeg nu er i gang må jeg også hellere ønske Vivi, Dorte og far tillykke med deres fødselsdag i torsdags. Men men men det jeg egentlig ville fortælle var, at jeg for første gang var helt alene hjemme her i USA, og så var der jordskælv. Og der var ikke mindre end 3 jordskælv indenfor en time - okay det var mindre jordskælv på ca. 2,5, og der skete ikke andet end af min seng rystede en del. Men det er altså også en lidt speciel fornemmelse, når man nu ikke lige ved at det er et jordskælv - så helt instinktivt kiggede jeg under sengen for at se hvilke uhyrer der gemte sig under den. Tjaaa - man kan jo ikke være lige heldig hver gang…;-).

Monday, November 13th, 2006
Anja skulle på konference i San Diego efter besøget i Los Angeles, så vi tog med derned i weekenden.
Lørdag tog vi en tur i SeaWorld, og som sidst var det helt fremragende - men denne gang fik jeg lov at klappe delfinen mens Ulrik tog billeder :-).
Lørdag aften blev brugt i Gaslight district med en god middag og en helt masse cocktails, så det var op ad formiddagen inden vi vendte tilbage til kvarteret for at spise brunch. Efter brunchen kørte vi til Coronado, hvor det meget berømte Hotel del Coronado ligger.
Det blæste en del, så til ære for fotografen forsøgte vi at sætte håret…men det kunne han ikke vente på.
Syd for San Diego kan man stå på molen og se til Mexico, så det gjorde vi selvfølgelig i selskab med en fin pelikan.
…faktisk en meget meget fotogen pelikan.

…er 4 stater, 3 nationalparker og et par casinoer på 4 dage.
Torsdag kørte vi (min mor, Henning, Anja, Ulrik & jeg) fra Los Angeles til Willams, hvor vi overnattede på Route 66. Fredag var vi ved Grand Canyon. Lørdag kørte vi til Bryce Canyon og derefter gennem Zion nationalpark på vejen mod Las Vegas. Det lyder måske lidt voldsomt, men der var så stor variation mellem naturen i de forskellige nationalparker, at det havde været svært at fravælge noget af det. Men vi var godt mætte af naturoplevelser - og Bellagio-brunchen - da vi søndag kørte tilbage til Los Angeles.
Grand Canyon er imponerende fordi det er vildt stort, og der er meget meget langt ned til bunden - tror jeg - vi gik kun et stykke ned, da vi jo havde et stramt program for resten af weekenden.
Lørdag morgen kørte vi til Bryce Canyon, som klart var min favorit. Klippeformationerne var helt eventyragtige, og på afstand lignede det næsten eventyrslotte.
…eller tegneseriefigurer - det er vist kun fantasien der sætter begrænsningen.
Lørdag eftermiddag kørte vi gennem Zion nationalpark, og det gik pludseligt op for os, at der var blevet efterår - det er ikke det man tænker mest over i 25 graders varme.
