Hermed ønsket om et godt nytår til jer alle.
Vores nytårsaften blev tilbragt i Laguna Beach på restaurant Hush. Vi havde en rigtig god aften med dejlig mad, god champagne og et orkester (der til Ulriks store skuffelse ikke kendte Melvins’ nytårsslager). Men på mange måder minder nytårsaften i USA vist om de fleste nytårsaftener i Danmark, den væsentligste forskel var vist, at dronningens nytårstale blev set på en laptop inden vi overhovedet var stået ud af sengen, og at vi dagen efter stod op uden tømmermænd.
Her sidder Ulrik og nyder udsigten fra hotellet og glæder sig til burgere og dvd’er - det hører sig jo til 1. januar tømmermænd eller ej.

Her i weekenden var Ulrik i Danmark for at fejre at Michael nu er Dr. Ryan Hansen (tillykke Michael). Det passede også med at Ulriks mor havde fødselsdag (tillykke Lise)…og når jeg nu er i gang må jeg også hellere ønske Vivi, Dorte og far tillykke med deres fødselsdag i torsdags. Men men men det jeg egentlig ville fortælle var, at jeg for første gang var helt alene hjemme her i USA, og så var der jordskælv. Og der var ikke mindre end 3 jordskælv indenfor en time - okay det var mindre jordskælv på ca. 2,5, og der skete ikke andet end af min seng rystede en del. Men det er altså også en lidt speciel fornemmelse, når man nu ikke lige ved at det er et jordskælv - så helt instinktivt kiggede jeg under sengen for at se hvilke uhyrer der gemte sig under den. Tjaaa - man kan jo ikke være lige heldig hver gang…;-).

Hollywood er et af de steder vi efterhånden har været nogle gange med vores gæster, så da Birgit var på besøg forsøgte vi at ændre udflugten lidt ved at tage ind og se en film i Chinese Theatre. Det var der både fordele og ulemper ved. Fordele - filmen var kanongod (The Departed), det var en stor oplevelse at se en film inde i Chinese Theatre, og endelig er Hollywood bare mere charmerende om aftenen. Men men men…en stor ulempe er at Hollywood-skiltet som det eneste i hele Hollywood ikke er belyst - eller det var det i hvertfald ikke den aften :-(

Laguna Beach er absolut blevet et af mine yndlingssteder her i nærheden, så jeg slæber alle gæster med derned, så det skulle Birgit naturligvis også.

Endelig fik vi et lille barn på besøg så vi kunne komme i Disney (juhuuu). Vi var naturligvis forberedt på en milliard børn der var ved at gå i selvsving blandt Disneyfigurer, så det var en ret stort kulturchok at gå direkte ind i et Goth-træf…hmmm
For at udligne Goth oplevelsen måtte vi naturligvis hen og hilse på Pluto.
